From: Mustapha Abdulkadir

The Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance has expressed deep concern over the recent killings in Benue State, strongly condemning the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume's silence amidst the crisis. In a statement signed by Muhammad Abubakar, the group's Publicity Secretary, they criticized Senator Akume's lack of empathy towards the victims and their families, describing it as disheartening. The group believes that Senator Akume's inaction suggests a lack of concern for the plight of Benue State citizens.

The Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance further emphasized that Senator Akume's role demands more engagement and leadership in times of crisis, and his silence only exacerbates the suffering of the people. Given his position, it is expected that he would be more proactive in addressing such critical issues. The group commended Governor Hyacinth Alia's efforts in addressing the crisis, calling on authorities to support the Governor in bringing an end to the ongoing violence.

The group stressed that collective action is necessary to restore peace and stability in the region, and Senator Akume's contribution is crucial in this regard. They urged him to be more vocal and actively involved in seeking solutions to the crisis. The Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance believes that the situation demands immediate attention and decisive measures to protect citizens.

The group described the incident as unfortunate, emphasizing the need for urgent action from both the Federal and State Governments to arrest and bring the perpetrators to justice. The ongoing violence has caused immense suffering, and it is imperative that leaders take swift action. They appreciated Governor Alia's response to the crisis, highlighting the need for collective efforts to restore peace.

The situation requires a multifaceted approach to ensure the protection of citizens and the restoration of normalcy. The Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance urged President Bola Ahmad Tinubu and the international community to intervene and bring an end to the bloodshed caused by terrorists in Benue State.

According to the Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance, this is not a time for politics but a time for collective action to ensure peace and stability in Benue State. They called on all stakeholders to join hands with Governor Alia to address the crisis. The focus should be on finding lasting solutions rather than assigning blame.

The Northern Youth Initiative for Good Governance remains committed to advocating for peace and stability in Benue State, working with government officials and other stakeholders to ensure the protection of citizens and the restoration of normalcy in the region. They believe that with concerted efforts, peace can be restored, and the people of Benue State can live without fear of violence.
