ADC Primaries: Arewa Youths Push Amaechi as Consensus Candidate, Appeal to Atiku for Statesmanship

Image
From: Musa Abubakar  Bauchi, The Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative has thrown its weight behind former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, ahead of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primaries. In a statement released on Wednesday, the group described Amaechi as a “national patriot” who gave everything to ensure the survival of the nation during critical moments in Nigeria’s recent political history. The endorsement was contained in a statement signed by the National President of the group, Rt. Hon. Sani Mohammed. He said Amaechi’s track record in public service and his role in Nigeria’s democratic transition make him the most qualified aspirant to lead the ADC into the 2027 general election. Mohammed specifically called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to demonstrate statesmanship by stepping down in favour of Amaechi. According to him, Atiku’s support would strengthen the ADC and present the party as a credible altern...

Breaking News: Supreme Court Upholds Court of Appeal Ruling, Affirms Gabam as SDP National Chairman

Image
From: Abdullahi Idris  Abuja, The Supreme Court of Nigeria has delivered a unanimous judgment today, 22 May 2026, reaffirming Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as the legally recognized National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP. In its decision, the apex court faulted the Federal High Court judgment in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/2497/2025, which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, relied on to recognize one Sadiq Umar Gombe as chairman of the party. The Supreme Court held that the Federal High Court ought not to have entertained the matter in the first instance, as it constituted a purely internal affair of a political party. The court declared that the Federal High Court judgment, which INEC acted upon, was fundamentally flawed and should be set aside. It further noted that the same judgment had earlier been nullified by the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/CS/127/2026 delivered on 27 March 2026, on the grounds that the lower court lacked jurisdiction o...

The Katagum-Bauchi narrative is a distraction, not a deciding factor

Image
By: Comr Mustapha Abdullahi The push around the Katagum-Bauchi dichotomy is a deliberate distraction designed to mislead the general public and to exert undue pressure on the National leadership of the APC. Framing candidate selection around zoning or sectional sentiment ignores the fundamental reality of Bauchi politics: elections are decided by voter numbers, mobilization, and statewide appeal. Since 1999, Bauchi South has produced governors not because of any contrived division, but because its larger population translates into higher voter turnout and decisive influence at the polls. Attempts to override this electoral arithmetic with narrative-driven arguments will only weaken the party’s chances in the general election. The historical data from INEC is unambiguous. In every governorship cycle since the return to democracy, the candidate who commands the strongest base in Bauchi South has held the advantage, because the zone delivers the largest bloc of votes. Politic...

Arewa Youths Urge President Tinubu to Intervene Over DSK and Taraba APC Secretariat Closure

Image
From: Mustapha Aminu  Taraba- The Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative has condemned in strong terms reports of the sudden closure of the Taraba State APC Secretariat, coming at a time when governorship aspirant Chief David Sabo Kente, widely known as DSK, was reportedly on his way to the party office. The incident has sparked reactions within the party and among stakeholders who view it as more than a routine administrative decision. In a statement released in Jalingo on Thursday, the North East Zonal Coordinator of the group, Comrade Abdulrahman Kirfi, described the closure as sad and an abuse of democratic principles. He argued that shutting down the secretariat at such a critical moment undermines the openness and fairness expected in party processes, especially ahead of primaries and key political activities. The group called on the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yelwada Goshe, to intervene by drawing the attention of the Taraba State part...

Bodejo’s Arrest: AGGA Warns APC Risks Losing the North Ahead of 2027

Image
From:  Mustapha Aminu  Abuja, The National Coordinator for Advocacy for Good Governance and Accountability (AGGA), Kayode Olawole, has condemned the arrest of Dr. Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and accused the Taraba State Government of acting in a compromised manner. In a communique issued in Lagos on Monday, Olawole described the development as a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), not only in Taraba State but across the North and the country at large. According to Olawole, the treatment being meted out to Alhaji Dr. Abdullahi Bello Bodejo by the Taraba State Government is both wrong and unacceptable. He argued that the repeated arrests and what he termed political witch-hunting amount to a misplaced priority that undermines the spirit of inclusivity within the ruling party. Rather than alienate such a figure, Olawole maintained, the government should engage him as a stakeholder whose influence could consolidate APC’s strength in the r...
