According to the commissioner, Sheikh Bauchi’s messages were not merely rhetorical; they were guides that encouraged cooperation among communities, fostering a sense of national belonging that many strive to achieve.
As the spiritual leader of the Tijjaniyya brotherhood in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was revered for his scholarly depth and commitment to the Sufi path. He established numerous Qur’anic schools, providing education to thousands of children across the northern region. His humanitarian initiatives, ranging from feeding programs to medical assistance, touched countless lives. In his address, Commissioner Gabarin urged the youths of Bauchi State to look to Sheikh Bauchi as a role model and to emulate his dedication to service. He emphasized that the scholar’s life exemplified how education, compassion, and faith can be combined to uplift communities. The commissioner encouraged young people to participate in volunteer projects, support local schools, and promote peace in their neighborhoods, thereby honoring the legacy of the departed leader for future generations.
Gabarin highlighted that true service to humanity is an expression of devotion to the Almighty Allah, and he called on the youth to embody this principle in their daily actions. By helping the less fortunate, respecting elders, and fostering unity, they honor both the scholar’s teachings and their Creator. The commissioner stressed that such deeds strengthen the moral fabric of society and bring spiritual fulfillment, reinforcing the values that Sheikh Bauchi championed throughout his life.
The commissioner concluded his remarks with a heartfelt prayer, asking Allah to grant Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi a peaceful repose in the hereafter. He beseeched the Almighty to forgive any shortcomings of the departed scholar and to envelop his soul with mercy and light. Gabarin also prayed that the family, students, and all who benefitted from the Sheikh’s guidance find solace and strength during this period of mourning and may his legacy inspire countless others.
Finally, Gabarin prayed that Allah bestow upon Sheikh Bauchi the highest rank of Jannatul Firdausi, a garden of eternal bliss, as a reward for his lifelong dedication to peace and education.
