Rt. Hon. Danaudi emerges Chief Whip of Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria

The Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) held its 5th Congress and Election on January 10, 2026, at the Keffi Local Government Secretariat, Nasarawa State. The event brought together youths from across the 19 Northern States, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to demonstrate unity and commitment to youth development and national cohesion. This gathering underscores NYAN's dedication to empowering young people and fostering regional harmony.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Comrade JM Abbah PhD, expressed deep appreciation to delegates and stakeholders who attended the Congress. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for their efforts in addressing economic challenges and improving security, acknowledging their contributions to creating a conducive environment for youth development.

The newly elected national executives include Rt. Hon. Faruq Dangi Ahmad as Speaker, Rt. Hon. Itodo Apeh Godswill as Deputy Speaker, and Rt. Hon. Faisal Adamu Maiha as Clerk of the Assembly. Other officials include Hon. Okiti Ogrima Emmanuel as Majority Leader, Hon. Blessing Sonje as Deputy Majority Leader, Mohammed Hassan Baba as Minority Leader, Hon. Afolabi Godwin as Deputy Minority Leader, Rt. Hon. Sani Muhammad Dan’audi as Chief Whip, Abdullahi Mukhtar Coma as Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Onipe as Minority Whip, and Hon. Muhammad Nuru Isah as Deputy Clerk. Hon. James Mgbreketan Jako serves as National Spokesperson / Public Relations Officer (PRO), and Ohiani Nana Hauwa is Director of Gender Affairs.

State Speakers were also elected, including Hon. Ingule Mathew Sughter (Benue State), Hon. Sidi Mini (Nasarawa State), and Hon. Rabiu Mohammed (Kogi State). These appointments reflect NYAN's commitment to strengthening grassroots mobilization and enhancing organizational effectiveness.

Comrade JM Abbah urged the newly elected leadership to remain committed to NYAN's non-partisan nature and uphold its core aims and ideals. He congratulated the new leadership under Rt. Hon. Faruq Dangi Ahmad's speakership, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective action in achieving NYAN's objectives.

Dignitaries who attended the event include His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Royal Highness, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, the Emir of Keffi, Hon. Salis Ali Agara, Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mallam Mohammed Abdulkareem Abdullahi, former Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), and Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, SAN, PhD, Patron and Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State.

The Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people and promoting national cohesion. The newly elected leadership is expected to work collaboratively with stakeholders to advance NYAN's vision and mission, focusing on initiatives that foster unity and development among northern youths.
