Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Bauchi State, has presented motivation gifts to members of the state’s 16th contingent following their impressive medal haul at the 3rd National Para Games Abuja 2026. The gesture was a mark of appreciation for the athletes who defied odds to win multiple medals for Bauchi at the national competition.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Gabarin said the gifts were tokens of recognition for the para-athletes’ hard work, discipline, and resilience in the face of physical and logistical challenges. He noted that their victories brought pride to Bauchi State and reinforced the importance of inclusive sports in national development. The contingent’s performance, he added, reflects the untapped potential within the state’s special athletes’ community.

The Commissioner explained that the initiative was designed to boost morale and inspire continued training among para-athletes. It also serves to acknowledge the sacrifices made not only by the athletes but by their coaches, guides, and support teams who worked behind the scenes. According to him, celebrating excellence is key to sustaining momentum and encouraging broader participation in para-sports across all local government areas.

Hon. Gabarin reaffirmed the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to youth and sports development, with particular emphasis on inclusivity. He stated that under Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, the Ministry has prioritized creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to compete, train, and excel. The gesture, he said, aligns with ongoing calls for improved funding, modern facilities, and structured welfare for para-athletes nationwide.

The presentation further highlighted the Ministry’s supportive role under Hon. Gabarin’s leadership and its strong working relationship with sports administrators and athletes. Stakeholders at the event commended the Commissioner for matching words with action and for maintaining an open-door policy that allows athletes’ concerns to be addressed promptly. They described the motivation gifts as timely, coming just as preparations begin for upcoming national and international meets.

Hon. Gabarin’s motivational gesture reflects responsive leadership in youth and sports development at a time Nigeria is celebrating the success of the 3rd National Para Games Abuja 2026. He stressed that initiatives like this are vital to nurturing talent, promoting inclusive participation, and building a pipeline of champions who can represent both state and country. He urged private sector partners and philanthropists to also invest in para-sports.

The Bauchi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development says it will continue to prioritize para-athletes and strengthen structures that enable greater achievements in future competitions. The Ministry congratulated all medalists from the 16th contingent and extended best wishes for their future endeavors as they prepare for new challenges.
