KYPG’s Attack on M.A’s APC Candidature Baseless- Comrade Danaudi
From: Faith Johnson
Bauchi, Our attention has been drawn to the above media publication credited to a group identified as Katagum Youth Progressive Group (KYPG), issued on Tuesday through one Baba Isah Azare, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to revisit the party’s gubernatorial candidature process ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed by Comrade Sani Danaudi Mohammed, a strong advocate for the return of former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, Makama Babba, the claims made by KYPG were described as a clear case of attention seeking, laced with political mischief and lacking any credible foundation. He urged such groups to abandon campaigns of calumny and instead embrace politics of peace, progress, and development for the collective good of Bauchi State.
Comrade Danaudi maintained that the APC gubernatorial ticket in Bauchi State remains the most formidable and strategically sound option available to the party as it prepares for 2027. He described M.A Abubakar, SAN, as the sure bet for APC victory, stressing that his record of service, national reach, legal intellect, and grassroots appeal place him far ahead of any other aspirant being speculated within or outside the party.
He reminded the public and the APC leadership that Bauchi State witnessed tangible development under M.A Abubakar’s administration from 2015 to 2019, despite lean federal allocations and inherited debts. Roads, healthcare, education, and institutional reforms were prioritized, while respect for traditional institutions and inclusion of stakeholders defined his style of governance. To suggest otherwise is to deliberately distort recent history for political convenience.
Drawing lessons from 2019, Comrade Danaudi warned that the APC did not lose Bauchi due to lack of votes or candidate popularity. The party lost because of internal conspiracies, sabotage by elements who refused to acknowledge that power belongs to Almighty Allah alone, and a coordinated attempt to undermine the will of party members. The figures from that election remain a testament that the people stood with M.A Abubakar, but internal treachery cost the party the seat.
That old script of division, faceless press statements, and sponsored groups seeking to dictate to the national leadership must not be allowed to resurface in 2027. The APC has grown wiser, and the electorate is more politically conscious. Bauchi voters know who served them with integrity, who defended their heritage, and who has the capacity to reconnect the state to the center for accelerated development.
Consequently, Comrade Danaudi called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to disregard the KYPG statement and treat it as the handiwork of political merchants without electoral value. The President and the National Working Committee should instead remain focused on consolidating the party, strengthening internal democracy, and backing candidates with proven capacity to win and govern effectively.
He concluded by urging all genuine APC stakeholders in Bauchi State to close ranks behind M.A Abubakar, SAN, and channel their energies toward issue-based campaigns that will return the party to power in 2027. The task ahead requires unity, not petitions from unknown groups. Bauchi APC cannot afford another self-inflicted defeat, and with Makama Babba as standard bearer, victory is not just possible, it is assured.
