Rt. Hon. Ukkasha Hamza Rahama Congratulates Gamawa
From: Faith Johnson
Bauchi, Rt. Hon. Ukkasha Hamza Rahama has congratulated the newly appointed RMAFC Commissioner and described her as “the best representative Bauchi has produced for the Commission at this time.” In his message, he said Gamawa’s nomination reflects capacity, integrity, and a deep understanding of fiscal issues that will serve Bauchi State well in national revenue deliberations. He expressed confidence that she will use the opportunity to advance the state’s interests within the framework of equitable allocation and fiscal responsibility.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Amina Gamawa, an indigene of Bauchi State, for appointment as Commissioner to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC. The nomination is expected to be transmitted to the National Assembly for confirmation in line with constitutional requirements.
The RMAFC is a constitutionally established body charged with monitoring accruals to and disbursement of revenue from the Federation Account. It also has the mandate to review, from time to time, the revenue allocation formula and principles of fiscal management in Nigeria, and to advise the Federal, State, and Local Governments on fiscal efficiency and methods by which their revenue can be increased.
Gamawa’s nomination comes at a time when the Commission is central to ongoing debates on fiscal federalism, revenue sharing, and the sustainability of subnational finances. With rising pressure on government to optimise non-oil revenue, strengthen fiscal discipline, and ensure equitable allocation to the three tiers of government, the RMAFC plays a critical role in shaping policy recommendations that affect all 36 states, including Bauchi.
Amina Gamawa represents Bauchi State on the Commission. If confirmed by the Senate, she will join other state commissioners in advising the Federal Government on revenue matters and in monitoring compliance with allocation guidelines. Her appointment is expected to give Bauchi State a stronger voice in national fiscal deliberations, particularly on issues affecting resource mobilisation and equitable distribution.
The nomination also reflects President Tinubu’s continued effort to fill key positions across federal institutions as part of his administration’s governance and economic reform agenda under the Renewed Hope platform. The Senate is expected to screen and confirm the nominee in the coming legislative weeks.
